The planning for the coming year is coming up. Let’s talk future!. But what happens in the majority: the past is analyzed and extrapolated as if ‘tomorrow never comes’. And as much as it is important and correct to understand the past, it is just as wrong to just throw a small hand over the past and thus to shape the future. Building goals on the past is like painting by numbers. The inspiration, the space for creativity, for something new cannot arise.
Which in turn is required to exist or even to grow in the prevailing dynamic.
Retrospective is usually accompanied by an ‘avoid-loosing’ mindset; just do not make mistakes – ‚name the solution, I’ll tell you the problem ‘. Especially in these days where the fast ones trump the slow ones, where the creatives outstrip the ordinary and where the new generation of employees want to do their thing, this ‘painting by numbers’ has little chance of success. Instead of hoping for a draw, play on victory – play to win. And then 100%: develop visions and bring them to life together. Giving freedom within this common vision and purpose. To be orchestrated and to search for ever better solutions – or how do innovations and new ideas come about? Clarify responsibilities – transfer – and take over as employees. This is easier when it comes to ‘their thing’.
Business, it’s a game – and no one plays to lose!
